All of our coffee is roasted on site at the Smith Douglas More House. With over 10 years of coffee roasting experience, each coffee is roasted to maximize its best flavor. Each coffee we offer is carefully selected from the highest quality coffee in the world. We hope you enjoy each bag we roast.
Coffee is a fresh crop that is imported from around the world. As the harvest cycles cycle throughout the year, so will our coffee bean offerings.
Our flagship Barsaunet Blend features 2 coffees that we feel pair amazingly well together and will consist of what we think tastes best year round. The name pays homage to coffee roasting heritage.
It is fun to brew coffee at home!
If you want to brew coffee better, here are a few stand by tips that work well from french press to pourover.
1. Use water that is hot as possible. Usually fresh off the boil will yield the best results.
2. Use a consistent ratio. If you have a scale start with a 16:1 water to coffee ratio, and adjust from there based on how it tastes. For example, for a 16oz coffee, use 30grams of coffee beans and 500grams of water. If it tastes too strong either grind coarser, use more water, or use less coffee. If it tastes too week, do the opposite.
3. Aim for 3-5 minutes of total contact time. There are always cases where shorter or longer may be better, but this is a good starting point. If a pourover takes too long to drain, try grinding coarser.
4. Use a burr grinder. Burr grinders produce coffee particles that are more uniformly sized than blade grinders which allows for a more even brew. If you do not have one, we are happy to grind your beans for you!
